Seeing the suggestions, I will try to make tutorials for making wallpaper I do want to make a easy to use wallpaper animator, but that will take a good amount of time unless someone else comes upto help with it. and as for other mediums of advertisement I have no clue. Lively gets about ~500 download per-day and that is mostly due to word of mouth I don't think its too bad with $0 & effort spend on marketing lol.Ĭurrently I'm cleaning up the code and I do plan to make more posts about it once done in other subreddit. I'm not good at things like marketing, I am also not comfortable telling random people about Lively everytime I see a comment etc. The thing I love programming & I just do that.l don't think/plan about what happens after I release the software. I get emails constantly saying Lively is taking too much system resource (some of the web based wallpapers I included with lively are heavy) & I have to tell them to use lighter wallpapers many probably stop using it due to this (windows is also not doing a good job by showing misleading value on taskmanager), I have no way of knowing how many stopped using lively since I did not put any analytics in lively. There are some confusions, some don't understand that Lively and wallpapers are separate things. I'm just sharing the wallpaper on deviantart, many are not comfortable(?) with it.Ĭurrently I did not make a easy to use animation system for lively, all wallpapers are webpage and you need some coding experience to get started (1) is not helping with this.
I don't like Lively being called a free wpe alternative - I would like Lively to be called Lively. Lively is probably not the best name, it does not come up easily on search I also don't want to use existing software like wallpaper engine/rainmeter name added to Lively's name to make it more discoverable. If you check my post history you will see that I only shared about Lively in r/rainmeter subreddit and many there already uses wallpaper engine.
